Well, after a few days I can say that I am on track again. I went to my doctor for a checkup a few months ago to see how I was doing after my concussion in January. My blood pressure was high so she gave me BP meds which seemed to get that into control but I knew my weight was the one biggest contributor so I said I would start losing weight again.

Fast forward to my next appointment and I had done NOTHING. I don’t know what it is about eating that I find hard to control but I guess it’s like all addictions and there isn’t really a good answer to “WHY”. I scheduled my next appointment but when it was time I called and postponed for two months because I had done nothing as yet.

Well, I finally went in and had, of course, not lost any weight and in fact gained a few pounds. We talked for a bit and I told her I would commit to losing weight. She said let’s put some specifics on that promise so I promised to not eat any foods where sugar is the main ingredient and would exercise at least five minutes each day. I told her if I commit to five minutes I will most likely do more but not feel like I failed if I only did the five.

Well so far so good. I have avoided sugar foods and have exercised every day. I am also counting calories. For my personality I find it helpful to count calories so I am not relying on hunger or lack thereof to control how much I eat. Many say “eat in moderation” but that is not specific enough for my brain. If I say I can only eat so many calories today by brain can handle that. I’m not saying that’s the way for everyone but it works for me.

If you are inclined to pray please do so. The Bible says one of the fruits of the spirit is self control and that is what I want to exhibit.

I will keep you posted from time to time on my progress.
